At forty, Eddie is still single and trying to move on after losing his former fiancée. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Lila, an environmental researcher who seems almost too good to be true. Encouraged by his father and best friend, Eddie proposes after only a few weeks, and the couple gets married just six weeks after their first meeting. But married life quickly reveals that Lila is far more complicated than Eddie imagined. She is immature, eccentric, and unexpectedly wild in the bedroom. Despite having access to a considerable fortune from various sources, she has no steady job and spends much of her time volunteering. During their honeymoon in Cabo, Eddie meets Miranda, and an immediate attraction develops between them. Before long, Eddie finds himself falling in love with her. But there is one crucial detail Miranda doesn't know yet-the real reason Eddie came to Cabo has nothing to do with their honeymoon.
