Sense and Sensibility

After Mr. Dashwood’s death, his family is left facing an uncertain future. Under the law, his estate must pass to his son from his first marriage, and Dashwood had asked him to provide for his second wife and their three daughters. However, his son’s wife does everything she can to prevent this from happening. Sisters Elinor and Marianne have very different ways of approaching life, with one guided largely by reason and the other by emotion. As they struggle with financial difficulties and the strict expectations of 19th-century society, both sisters must navigate complicated relationships, family pressures, and the search for love. Despite the obstacles surrounding them, they gradually discover that both reason and emotion have a place in finding happiness.
