Inglourious Basterds

Set in Nazi-occupied France during the darkest days of World War II, the film masterfully weaves together two separate tales of vengeance. Shosanna, a young Jewish woman, narrowly escapes death after witnessing the brutal murder of her family and builds a new life in Paris under a false identity, eventually running a cinema of her own. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Aldo Raine has assembled a special unit of Jewish soldiers with one mission: to strike fear into the hearts of the Nazis through ruthless guerrilla warfare. By a twist of fate, Shosanna's movie theater becomes the center of an elaborate plot involving both Raine's squad and a famous star of German cinema. Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, the film stars Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger in leading roles. This bold reimagining of history earned eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
