There Will Be Blood

In the early 1900s, in a remote stretch of land, Daniel Plainview runs an oil-prospecting business, and alongside his young son, his ambition is the driving force of his life. After buying drilling rights from the local people on land rich in oil, Daniel moves closer to great wealth and begins to learn just how much greed can consume a man. Standing against him is the town’s young preacher, driven by the same hunger, and the rivalry between the two puts the thing each of them values most at risk. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and anchored by an unforgettable performance from Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood won two Academy Awards. The most talked-about work from the director of Magnolia, Boogie Nights and Punch-Drunk Love, it left a lasting mark on the cinema of the 2000s. A must-watch for anyone who loves a powerful character drama and slow-burning tension.
