Why Him?

Ned Fleming (Bryan Cranston) is a devoted father who would do anything for his daughter Stephanie. She is now grown up and ready to build a life of her own, so the family eagerly awaits the day they finally meet her boyfriend. But Laird Mayhew (James Franco) is nothing like the man they pictured. A young millionaire who made his fortune online, Laird is friendly but so casually familiar that he gets on Ned’s nerves right from the first handshake. As Laird quickly charms the rest of the family and believes he has everyone’s blessing to marry Stephanie, Ned remains stubbornly set in his mind: no matter what Laird does, he will never accept him as a son-in-law.
