The Virgin Suicides

Living in a quiet suburban neighborhood, the five Lisbon sisters captivate the attention of local teenage boys with their beauty and mysterious lives. However, when one of the sisters takes her own life, the family’s seemingly ordinary existence becomes the center of a troubling mystery. Raised under the strict rules of Catholic morality, the Lisbon family refuses to discuss the tragedy, leaving the reasons behind it shrouded in secrecy. Fascinated by the sisters, a group of boys from neighboring homes attempts to uncover the truth and understand the hidden world behind the family’s closed doors. Directed by Sofia Coppola, the film explores adolescence, isolation, family control, and the emotional complexities of growing up through a haunting and melancholic story.
