The Producers

The musical version of Hamlet, Funny Boy, produced by theatrical impresario Max Bialystock, closes on opening night after becoming a spectacular failure. Rather than giving up, Max and his nervous accountant, Leo Bloom, come up with a seemingly foolproof scheme to make a fortune. They plan to raise far more money than necessary for their next production, Springtime for Hitler, deliberately make the show a failure, shut it down, and secretly keep the surplus for themselves. But what appears to be an easy scam quickly takes an unexpected turn when their supposedly terrible musical begins to attract an audience of its own.
