1941

Set in the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack, 1941 takes a wildly comedic look at the panic and confusion that swept across the United States during wartime. Along the California coast, ordinary citizens suddenly find themselves caught up in rumors of Japanese submarines lurking offshore and fears of an imminent attack. As soldiers and civilians scramble to protect their homes and country, a series of bizarre misunderstandings and chaotic encounters turns the growing tension into complete madness. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film blends war, disaster, and comedy through an exaggerated portrayal of America's wartime anxiety, with memorable performances from Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi adding to its eccentric humor.
